A Few of Our Favorite Things

Rain drops and roses and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettle and warm woolen mittens,
Brown paper packages tied up with string
These are a few of Madd's favorite things:

Maddox and Mommy love this cup.....it is insulated, which keeps his drinks cold and it does not leak!! Finally, a cup that doesn't leak!!!

This is a must have for us....this place mat has suction cups under it which keeps it stuck to most tables and it is rubbery so it wipes down easily after he uses it..plus, it rolls up nicely to fit in the diaper bag

Oh my goodness the pacifier.....or as Maddox calls it an "um" He loves these and must have them to sleep (I have to place several in the crib at night time so he can find one in the middle of the night) and he wants it all day long; however, we are limiting the time he gets to have this during the day (obviously, Maddox does not agree with our decision in this..hahah)

Of course here is Raffi....the faithful friend...always with Mr. Maddox

This is our favorite book these days....I would recommend this Bible to anyone out there..it is fabulous!!

And finally here is our most favorite thing:

Daddy

What about you??? What are a few of YOUR or YOUR CHILD'S Favorite things???

Thanks Jenn Colley for the good idea on the Favorites post

New Adventures

Sorry it has taken me so long to update on our trip to Oklahoma. It was a fabulous trip...the best trip we have taken yet!!! We left Saturday evening around 6:30pm and didn't arrive in Oklahoma City until 1:30am...yes it is a long drive, but Maddox did amazing!! He laughed and talked and played in the car and he eventually fell sound asleep....ahhh...makes those six hours bearable!!! I was worried since he slept in the car he would wake up when we arrived at Grandma and Grandpa's house; however, Brad went inside, set up the handy pack-n-play, tip-toed ever so quietly through the house, making sure we did not breathe too loudly or make any sudden movements, placed him ever so gently in the pack-n-play, made sure he could feel his faithful companion Raffie and he was fast asleep for the remainder of the night!! OH sweet success!!

We had an eventful Sunday as we went to visit Brad's Grandma Jo and we played outside all day!! Maddox rode the riding lawn mower with Brad and Grandpa and he LOVED it (although, he never cracks a smile the entire time...he will just cry if you try to take him off)

We then went to Brad's Aunt and Uncle's house and hung out there for a while. Maddox was so exhausted from playing outside all morning, he went down super easy for a quick nap to gain some much needed energy for the next big adventure....fishing!! He loved it. They have a pond outside their house with lots of fish....Maddox, Brad and Grandpa were able to catch several which Maddox greatly enjoyed!

Monday we had another fun filled day at the ZOO!!! Although it was super HOT, we had a great time and once again, Maddox did fantastic! He His favorite part were the sea lions and all the fish...I do believe next time we visit we will go to an aquarium...this boy loves fish!!! The funniest part was watching Maddox stare so intently at the fish as they swam by, then pat his leg like he does to call the dog....he was trying to "call" the fish back to him when they swam by...it was so funny!!!

Great Days

Great days!!! These past few days with Maddox have been B-E-A-UTIFUL!!!! What a joy!!! Maddox has been in such a great mood, playing, loving, laughing, running, jumping, climbing......oh so much fun....I've just loved it!!! I am so thankful for the great days and it even makes me thankful for the tough days because now I know how awesome a great day feels like. We did figure out that Maddox was in the process of cutting 4 teeth last week....yes, that is correct, 4 little teeth cut through the gums of our little one in ONE week...poor thing...no wonder he was running a fever and super irritable (it is so hard to determine if he is teething or not because he will not let you put a finger in his mouth...well, I take that back, you can put a finger in his mouth but it is at your own risk..he might not give said finger back to you)

We have had a lot of fun with cousin Mollie ...she still doesn't know what to think of Madd...but he certainly loves his little cousin...he just hugs her and wants her to sit with him....so precious

We are leaving for Oklahoma this evening (please pray for a safe and easy 6 hour car ride) and I am praying so hard that he continues to be in the mood he is in!!! See ya soon Vodas!!! Love you all!!!

Sit and Stay

Can you see the lady bug that decided to land on this little one's head???
If the moon stays up until morning one day,
Or a lady bug lands and decides to stay,
Or a little bird sits at your window a while,
Its because they're all hoping to see you smile.
For never before in story or rhyme,
not even once upon a time,
has the world ever known a you my friend,
and it never will...not ever again.
Heaven blew every trumpet,
and played every horn,
On the wonderful marvelous
Night you were born!!!!

(Taken from the book "On the Night You were Born"....Maddox's Mommy's favorite book)

The Big 26

Well, I turned 26 on June 6th at 6:03am. I had a wonderful birthday spent with my amazing family!!! We started the celebration on Friday the 5th at my mom's house. Maddox, my mom, Granny, sisters Kameron and Carol and baby Mollie came over for Carino's lunch followed by swimming in the kiddie pool!!! My brother, Brad and Paul all joined us after they got off work and we continued the festivities with fajitas and red velvet birthday cake. It was a great time and I definitely felt loved and cared about!!! I was able to sleep in on Saturday (my actual birthday) because my mom kept Maddox for us....oh the extra sleep was joyous!!!! My mom and Paul kept Maddox Saturday evening so Brad and I could go on a date...it was great (thanks again Mom and Paul)

Sunday we spent the day as a family of 3 and even ventured out to the Drive-In to see the movie "UP" We were a little nervous about how Maddox would do since the movie itself didn't start until 9:10 and Maddox usually is in bed between 7:30 and 8....however, Maddox did great...he loved the freedom he had to roam around in the bed of the truck, and of course he loved his movie snacks!!!

It was a great birthday weekend!!!! (unfortunately blogger won't let me upload any pictures at this time...bummer)

Maddox turned 17 months old on June 8th. Gosh, I cannot believe he is almost a year and a half....wait I totally take that back.....I look at him and am in constant shock at how old he is looking and the temper tantrums are hitting full force.....oh but he is so clever, creative, funny, loving and passionate!!! While very spirited, he is such a joy to be around (until you take something away from him..hehehe) His vocabulary is growing like crazy....I am attempting to get it on video for your viewing pleasure!!!

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday! I have so much to be thankful for every single day.....but today, I am most thankful for my dear friend Trish. She is my soul sister....my confidant, and the sassiest person I know. We met when we were both working at Covenant SurgiCenter. I was so young, I had just turned 18 when I started working there....I was super shy and quiet, Trish on the other hand....NOT shy or quiet (hahha) It took me a while to have enough "courage" to talk to her, but we became instant friends. We could talk for hours (of course talking was WAY more fun than working) and we loved our trips to Sonic!!! We had so many heart to heart conversations.....she rededicated her live to Christ during that time and it was the most amazing thing to watch her grow closer to the Lord. I remember when she and Jake got engaged and married (in Jamaica) and began their lives together. She helped me plan my wedding, videoed the entire day for me and helped me remain calm during it all
She has been such a great friend and we always seem to be going through the same things around the same time and really learn from each other. I just love this girl.
Speaking of girl....she has a little one...Allie...she was born February 6, 2008 (just one month after Maddox) Sadly, we do not hang out in person all that much because our schedules are too crazy (we are working on it)
Trisha, I just want you to know how much you mean to me...you are such a wonderful friend and I thank God for our life long friendship!!! I hope you have an awesome birthday next week and an even better time in Vegas!!! Love you!!

(Just a side note, our birthdays are 5 days apart, we were married exactly one year apart to the day from each other, and our children are one month apart in age.....you are my SOUL sister!!!!!)
