Waiting Room Drama

Waiting at the walk in clinic, with Paxton because he is coughing non stop. The kid across the room has an iPad blaring some obnoxious game that makes the same noise as waking through a las vegas Casino!   Hey kid. We aren't at the casino. I'm not winning money and I don't have an adult beverage in hand. My son beside me is ultra touchy and super wiggly and did I mention he is coughing NON stop...in my ear, on my arm. Sniffling. Coughing. Coughing. Sniffling.
For the love of everything holy, turn the gosh darn game to silent!!!
Here's to praying we don't leave here with more than we came with!

Lunch with the Bestie

Yesterday, Harper girl and I got to have lunch with our besties. Mallory had a follow up appointment here in Lubbock so we got to meet up with Sarah and "the babies" for lunch. It was so lovely and oh how I wish we were able to do that more often!!!
It for crazy windy while we were trying to snap a few pictures, but we captured some pretty cute hugs non the less!!
Love you sweet Burger family!

Gym Rats

Paxton started gymnastics today (he and Harper take at the same time, just in different classes). Boy oh boy, he loved every minute of his class. He grinned from ear to ear the entire time and was a hot sweaty boy when it was finished. I'd call that success. There are two boys from his class at school that are in his same gym class, I think it is going to be so much fun for him and I'm really enjoy getting to visit with their mommas while the kiddos work hard!

Unfortunately, our evening ended up like this:
Poor guy! His lungs just have such a hard time this time of year. Hopefully a few breathing treatments will help clear up some of that junk quickly!!!!
He is having such an amazing start to the school year and I am so thankful for how big he is getting. We talk after school about his day and I love to hear him talk of the kids he played with and he is asking other kiddos to play some too (this is HUGE. Normally he plays by himself because he likes it better and acclimating to others play habits is very hard for him!) I ask him how he's doing with keeping his emotions under control and he smiles so big and says "mom, I haven't cried at all!!" He is so proud. We are so proud! Praying this year continues to be such an amazing year of growth and maturity.
Oh and one final thing I don't want to forget. Pax had an "All about Me" homework paper that he had to fill out and one of the questions stated "what is your goal for this year. What would you like to accomplish?" His response was "to learn more about God's word"
Being on the tears for momma! Wowza kiddo. You never cease to amaze me!!!

Swimming Adventures

Maddox tried out for the swim team yesterday and he totally rocked it!! He said he was nervous, but you wouldn't have guessed it. He swam 25 yards breathing to the side and then she asked him if he knew the back stroke (which he's never done before) and he responded with "sure" and took off like a champ. He definitely needs help learning the proper strokes but for a beginner he did so great! He is super excited for his new adventure and I'm excited to watch!!

Harper girl is still rocking her swim lessons and is learning to kick properly (she currently does more of a bicycle kick, which is hilarious because she can't figure out how to petal her bike). She sure is cute and loves her swim teacher so much!!

Weekend Fun

We had a wonderful weekend after the first two days of school. Friday afternoon was nice and hot, so after school the kiddos swam and played...trying to soak up as much pool time as we can before it's too chilly!
Saturday we had Jason and Kameron and Mollie and Henley over and then Carol and her boyfriend James and his son Jaedon come over to play as well. Kim and Austin went on a date and Ruby Grace stayed over for a sleep over. It was  so fun watching all the kiddos run and play in the backyard while us grown ups were able to sit and visit. Are my people actually old enough now that I get to sit and visit!? Ha. It was so fun and Ruby girl slept like a champ when it was all over!
Sunday was another fun day because we got to take the kiddos to see the movie Pete's Dragon. Our rule at home is if there is a movie the kids want to see, and there is a book they have to read the book first. This was Paxton's first time to join in and read the book first. He was so proud once he finished!!!
And the evening was finished with a tailgate jam session from Brad and Maddox. Maddox is really enjoying guitar lessons and it's fun to listen to him progress in his playing abilities. He really picks up on it very quickly!!!

Thankful for a great weekend with my people and I'm excited for the week to come. It's going to be a busy one but oh so much fun!!!

Dress Up

Because you aren't a real cowgirl without Elsa slippers (and wow. She sure looks like Paxton here)

Start Over

Well, it's been nearly a year since I have posted anything on this blog. No time like the present to pick back up and document our life.
Maddox and Paxton started school last week. Oh what an amazing school they attend. I am still shocked that Maddox is already in 3rd grade. When did that happen? His teacher is precious, young and looks like a lot of fun. He really likes her and his class. There are 15 kiddos in his class and he had two super great days!!
Paxton is in T1 (transitional first grade). This program is absolutely amazing and I am already so in love with his teacher! There are 9 kids in his class with a joining class who has 10 kiddos and another precious and seasoned teacher. These two classes will join together a lot to meet the specific needs of each student and total there are 19 students in T1 with two teachers. Wow. What a blessing. Paxton had a super start and even lost a tooth while at school on the second day!!! He is going to grow and thrive so much this year and I cannot wait to watch it all unfold.
Harper girl will start her Mother's Day out program after Labor Day, so for now we are enjoying some girl time while the boys are at school! She is still doing swimming lessons (got to get her ready for the 3024 Olympics. Haha) she will start dance after Labor Day and she and Paxton will both do gymnastics. Maddox is trying out for a swim team tomorrow. Life is about to get busy and fun and busy!!!
Thankful for my job as their mom and excited to see what this school year has in store.
