Soccer Saturday

We have started a new journey in our world.....we have entered the world of soccer. Both boys are playing for the first time this season and oh, what an adventure it will be.
Paxton is on a team that all played together last year...yes, last year....he is the youngest one on the team and he is a bit overwhelemed. They are good....I mean really good. These kids can run with a soccer ball with such ease and coordination. Poor Pax had such a melt down on his first game. He stood in the middle of the field and cried out of frustration, anxiety and overall overwhelmed at the entire experience. We have worked with him more and more everyday and I have high hopes that next Saturday will be a much better experience for him. Although he was super overwhelmed and frustrated, he was really pretty good with the ball. He actually scored a goal!!! I think if we can learn the best way to guide his competitive spirit he will do really well in soccer if he wants to.

Maddox had a great first game. He is on a team with kiddos that have never played before...so, they all have a lot to learn about the game, but Maddox stayed with it and had a few really great kicks. He was a good sport and is making friends on his team. I am excited to watch him gain more coordination and to watch him have fun playing soccer.

Spring Break

Geeze, life just keeps going and this little blog is getting pushed to back burner. It seems by the end of the day I can't get enough energy to write a complete sentence. HA.
Well, a lot has happened since my last post, but I will just start with the most recent fun and exciting event. Spring Break!! The boy were already scheduled to spend the week in Oklahoma City with Brad's parents....so Brad and his brother, Brandon, started talking about planning an all inclusive trip to Mexico for Brad and I as well as Brandon and his amazing wife Ashley. Oh my mercy....it was amazing!!!
Harper stayed here with my sister Carol and my Mom. (Poor Harper was recovering from Strep throat and cutting some pretty nasty teeth...on top of being super confused on where momma was and not feeling well...she was pretty miserable for most of the week....breaks this mommas heart) The boys stayed with grandmom and grandpa in OKC.
Sheesh, what an amazing trip. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, Rivera Maya. It was all inclusive and it was amazing. Fantastic food, tremendous service and all around wonderful time!! Can't wait to go again and bring the kiddos!

Life Changing

Geeze. I just can't keep up. I feel one (or maybe two or three) steps behind everything that needs to be taken care of these days.....so, of course, this little blog has taken the back burner because quite frankly at night time, the only time I have to blog, I am exhausted and can't seem to speak in complete sentences let alone write out actual thoughts or major events that have occurred. With all of that being said, I did not want to pass over the biggest event that has transpired in our house this past month. This by far is the greatest accomplishment in our house to date.
On February 8, 2014, in the car, on our way to our niece Mollie's 5th birthday party, Maddox said "Momma, I am ready to ask Jesus in my heart. I prayed by myself last night, but I want to do it with you today"
I may have nearly had a wreck while driving as my eyes filled with tears and I began chatting with our eldest little boy about what it means to be a follower of Christ. I asked him all sorts of questions and he knew every answer with confidence.
Here were a few of the questions I asked him followed by his answer
Why do we need Jesus in our lives? Because we all sin and he loves us enough to wash our sins away
What does it mean to sin? To do anything that isn't right. We all sin momma, but He forgives us
What did Jesus do for us? He died on the cross to save us.
What happened after he died? Three days later he came back
Momma, I want Jesus to live in my heart and show me to do what is right.

Wow. What a smart little boy. He seems to get it. As much as you can at 6 years old (which in all actuality is probably more than some grown adults get it. It is fascinating to watch true child like faith. There is no doubt or questioning.)

I am so very proud of this life changing decision Maddox has made to love the Lord and follow Him. Now to guide his little heart to pursue Jesus more and more everyday. There is no doubt he will change the world.

Harper is 19 Months Old

I just realized in the midst of two cases of the flu, one stomach bug, two ear infections and possible pneumonia life, I missed updating about Harper Grace turning 19 months old. Sheesh, it cannot be possible that she is getting closer to age two than to age one. Makes me sad; however, I am so excited to watch the little lady she is becoming.

So, what are you up to at 19 months old miss Harper?

-weigh about 24 pounds

-you seem super tall...everyone comments on how long you are...we will go for you 18 month check up (that momma totally forgot about) and get your official measurements 

-wearing mostly 18 month clothing and the occasional 2T top if it can be paired with leggings

-size 5/6 shoe

-you are finally starting to eat again. You went on a complete eating strike after the flu and it has taken about 2 weeks to finally gain your appetite back 

-you have gained quite a bit of sass in the past few weeks. Whew the fits you through are mighty and hilarious....although we try hard to not let you see how funny they are when your tiny body is flailing on the ground with your arms and legs kicking. You are becoming familiar with the time out spot and so far it seems to be working well to get you to change your attitude. You are demonstrating a very teachable spirit.

-you have learned to run and you are very fast

-you love to play chase with your brothers

-you love to steal a toy from your brothers and take off running as fast as you can 

-your favorite toy continues to be a baby doll

-you are talking more and more everyday with words consisting of : please, thank you, eat, ice, more, up please, help please, bath, hug, momma, dadda, doggie, baby, Ruby, go,  Gigi, Granny (neenee)

-you love to play and you are easy to play with

-you love the movie "Tangled" and you would sit there and watch the entire movie if I would let you (this helps when I am trying to help Maddox with his homework)

-you are a nurturer. When someone is hurt or in timeout you go to their rescue

Oh Harper Grace, the days are filled with such joy with you in them. We love you baby girl.

Day Date

Being a mommy it three little ones is the most rewarding and challenging job I can imagine. One of the biggest challenges include finding one on one time with each kiddo, especially Maddox now that he is in school everyday. This week I had the rare opportunity to take Maddox on a mini date after school. I loved getting to visit with him without interruptions. I loved getting to see his gentle spirit without getting distracted with his brother or sister.
He is such a special little boy who makes a mark everywhere he goes. In the single month he has been at his new school, he has made the staff all fall in love with him. I wish I could be has confident as he is and I pray I continue to guide him to be the world changing man he is already becoming

I love that she will play babies cuter than any tiny human I have ever watched before and then pick up a car or truck or a viking helmet and hang with the boys for a while. 

Sicky

Oh our sweet eldest little boy is sick sick sick. I mentioned in the previous post that he came home from school not feeling very well so I kept him home from school today. Well, after nap, he started running a pretty high fever  and our nurse practitioner told us to come in for a flu test today. Welp, he most definitely has the flu (the test came back positive within seconds) with the body aches, high fever, nasty cough and over all feeling crummy. Poor baby. He is handling it well (as well as you can at 6 years old) and he has now started some medicine to try to help it. Paxton has also started the meds in hopes to prevent catching it and we are instructed to keep a close eye on Harper and call the office if she starts running fever and they will start her on the meds as well (she cannot have them as a preventative measure until she is 2). Please join me in praying for a rapid recovery and that no one else catches it. (As a side note, when I informed his teacher that he tested positive for the flu she informed me that 4 other kids in his class tested positive for it as well....sheesh, 5 kids out of 14 all out with the flu at one time.....nasty nasty bug).
